Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Welcome to Thanklio ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience while using our gratitude journaling application. Thanklio is developed by an individual developer based in Poland.
1. Information We Collect
Thanklio is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your journal content never leaves your device. We collect and store the following information:
- Gratitude Entries: The text content of your daily gratitude entries that you create within the app. This is stored locally only and is never sent to us or anyone else.
- Timestamps: The date and time when you create or modify gratitude entries (stored locally only)
- App Settings: Your preferences including notification settings, language preferences, and reminder schedules (stored locally only)
- Local Device Data: All of the above is stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage
In addition, we use Google Firebase to help us keep the app stable and understand which features are used. This is covered in detail in Section 4 below. None of the content you write in your gratitude entries is ever included in this data.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely for the following purposes:
- To display your gratitude entries within the app
- To send you reminder notifications based on your preferences
- To provide app functionality and improve your user experience
- To maintain your settings and preferences across app sessions
3. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage Only: All your data is stored exclusively on your device. We do not transmit, upload, or store your gratitude entries on any external servers or cloud services.
Security Measures: Your data is protected using industry-standard encryption methods provided by your device's operating system (iOS/Android).
Data Backup: If you use your device's built-in backup features (iCloud, Google Drive), your app data may be included in those backups according to your device settings.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we never have access to the text of your gratitude entries — those stay on your device.
We use Google Firebase (provided by Google Ireland Limited) for three purposes:
- Firebase Analytics: Collects app usage events (e.g. that an entry was created, updated, or deleted, that a setting was changed, which screens were viewed) along with basic technical information such as device model, OS version, general region, and an app-instance identifier. It never receives the text of your gratitude entries.
- Firebase Crashlytics: If the app crashes or encounters an error, a crash report (containing technical details like stack traces, device model, and OS version) is sent to help us fix bugs. Crash reports do not include your gratitude entry text.
- Firebase Remote Config: Fetches configuration values (such as minimum supported app version) from Google's servers so we can manage app updates and maintenance windows.
This processing is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working reliably and understanding how its features are used. Firebase may process this data outside your country, including in the United States, under Google's standard contractual clauses. See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Firebase handles data.
No Advertising: We do not display advertisements or share data with advertising networks.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have complete control over the gratitude entries stored on your device:
- Access: You can view all your gratitude entries at any time within the app
- Modify: You can edit or update any gratitude entry
- Delete: You can delete individual entries or all data by uninstalling the app
- Export: Your data remains on your device and can be backed up through your device's backup system
If you are in the European Economic Area, you also have rights under the GDPR regarding the analytics and crash data described in Section 4, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of that data, to object to this processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights.
6. Children's Privacy
Thanklio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The analytics and crash reporting described in Section 4 apply to all users regardless of age, so we recommend children under 13 use the app only under parental supervision. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.
7. Notifications
The app uses local notifications to remind you to write gratitude entries. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and do not involve any external servers. You can control notification settings within the app at any time.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
9. Data Retention
Your data is retained on your device until you choose to delete it or uninstall the app. We do not have access to or control over your data retention since everything is stored locally.
10. International Users
Your gratitude entries are stored locally on your device and are never transferred internationally. The limited analytics and crash data described in Section 4 may be processed by Google/Firebase on servers located outside your country, including in the United States, as described in Section 4.
